It's 3 am, Do you know where your mother is?

She's at the computer. What!?! Did you know that your mom does stuff on the computer? Actually, you sort of do and you HATE it... with a passion. Which is why your mom is online at 3am.

First we had to work on the kula newsletter. Then we got distracted by mommy's favorit online blogs which are equivalent to old fashioned soap operas I guess. Now we're writing in your blog.

You are fast asleep, all cute and cuddly. Not so earlier this evening. We think you are teething. What!?! You're only 3&1/2 months old for goodness sake. But the signs are there: excessive drooling, trying to get your whole hand in your mouth, crying out in pain, whimpering... it's so sad. We only just got over the colic. And this time there is less I can do for you :(

I'm crossing my fingers that your threshold for pain increases. Your Ate Erica has OI (can't spell the full name of the disorder) and her bones are fragile like glass. She has an extremely insane tolerance to pain - I don't want you to be like that. But I do hope that you can suck it up when you get older and understand this - life is fairly painful.

There are headaches and backaches, and bruises and the sting of cuts and scrapes. You'll stub your toes, bang your elbows, bump your head, and slam your fingers in doors. There's glass and sharp rocks to step on and and wooden splinters to pull out and all sorts of stuff. If you have children, labor hurts! If you don't and you inherit your period pain from mommy and lola, your period will hurt (but only for the first day). We hope you learn and practice martial arts and if you do that!!! There's a whole other level of pain.

And this isn't about being accident prone and having a weak planet being aspected by a malevolent one - this is about being human with a body that's made of skin, blood, and bones. So my little darling - please learn to change state and recognize the truth behind all of life's aches and pains. They come and go and are just as much a display of light and rays as a sunrise, chocolate cake, and your favorite toy.

Good Luck My Little Bundle of Adorableness,
Mum
