After Shivaratri

Dear Baby BooBoo,

Well we've had a really good weekend but we're tired today and didn't eat in time so stomach a little wobbly. Last night was Shivaratri and you got to hear some chanting and singing, and you got to eat some Guru amrita. How was it?

Have been able to eat some veggies and half our prenatal vitamin dosage! Yay!

Tomorrow is another visit to the midwife - she's a nice lady and probably the first one you'll see next to your pappy.

Got a little headache so can't write much. Hope you are feeling all the extra nutrients!

Love,
Mom :)

10 Weeks

Dear Little One,

Wanted to give you this snapshot of time from me - in case you're curious or you're pregnant yourself and are wondering how it will feel. Having my own mommy far away in both body and spirit has been weird for me. I definitely sense the missing link to childbirthing, female relatives. There is no comfort from familiarity even if your Auntie Kirana is pregnant upstairs with only 5 weeks ahead of us. It feels like reinventing the wheel, which as you will know, is generally a silly thing to do. I hope that we will have provided you with a crowd of kula family and that you will witness births and deaths and be afraid of neither.

Also, my apologies for not eating as well as I should. I've only managed the prenatal vitamins a few days out of the last 3 weeks and veggies are few and far in between. I hope you are spared the nausea of pregnancy (or any other nausea for that matter). But it is my current reality. Some days are worse than others. Today is better - nausea only, no vomitting. I hope for both our sakes that it goes away soon and that I can start pumping us full of vitamins and minerals and all that good stuff. In the meantime, suck off the fat of the existing landscape and good luck to you.

With All My Love,
Ma
