What! You're a 1 year old!
No way, I've totally flaked on your blog. Ok, so like I totally apologize. We've been busy you and I though. You've been busy learning to walk, talk, play, hug, kiss, and unfortunately, hit. Yes, you're a slapper but your bro Ro is a biter so which is worse?
Anyway, you're beautiful still. Your hair is curly, your eyes are bright as buttons and you're graceful to boot. Dancer, kung fu master, we know not but it's funny, you've been handing people Chogyam Trungpa's Way of the Warrior to read a couple of times now.
Here's a quick update since May.
You took your first camping trip in August. It was... interesting. Your two top teeth came out and they hurt you something fierce. You were pretty crabby and ran a scary fever one night at 3:00 in the morning. That was scary. Mommy was officially scared. Other than that though, you seemed to have fun. You loved playing with dirt, rocks and wood chips. It was the first time your mom realized that you were going to get dirty :) You pretty much also mastered walking during that camping trip, which was 2 weeks long mind you. Oh yeah, and we think that another realm being took a trip through your dreams one night early on in the trip. Just in case you have a flashback or something.
You had your first birthday party on the 30th of Sept. You met your Uncle Fred or Tito Fred or Uncle Frog (or whatever you wish to call him) that week. You seemed to like him. You also seemed to like your party. You were dressed very cutely (see flickr slideshow if mama ever gets around to uploading the pics) and you seemed to understand that this was your special day. It was a baby dance party and you kinda danced. You also kissed a boy and walked around like you were drunk :)
Ok, you just woke up so I'm going to definitely continue this tomorrow. No, never mind, your daddy just got you - we're trying this night weaning thing so if you get flashbacks about that, please understand that there were a variety of complicated reasons around doing it which I won't get into now.
Ok, so onward ho. You had your first plane ride in Oct. 5 hours to NYC (well actually NJ, Newark, etc.) You were very good. People commented how good you were. You only had ear trouble on the landing in Newark but all other takeoffs and landings were AOK. You slept most of the way but when you were awake pretty much only whined a little and that's because you were bored. This NY trip was a trial run for the larger trip happening later in December.
14 hours to Thailand. But you'll be riding with your bro Ro so hopefully all will be ok. Daddy is not coming on this trip and we're a little... bummed but cross your fingers he'll pay off that stupid debt and your grandma and grandpa can get taken care of so he can join us.
Back to the firsts list. Your first word was... I think HI. Second word - bree for tree and burr for bird. Wait, second word was ruff ruff ruff for... yeah, you guessed it, dog! You've also said diaper a couple of times but haven't repeated it since and you LOVE the word Hot which I think you think means a lot of things like cup, bowl, food, bread? You also say Bye now and you can point at an eye or a nose and get it right like 80% of the time. That's great!
Ok, now mommy is really tired so she will go to bed. Girl, I love you soooo much!
Much love,
Maman
